today my old customer called me about very old case. the good was i recorded all old problems of every customer. but question is, this is not normal for every consultant?

i had learnt that, most accountant find what the cheapest more than what is most suitable. and in the long run it made all the cost growing up, dramatically. and they never learnt their lessons.

i was very surprised when the time i firstly work with some people that think about every cost as only an expense.

i don’t know why they just check only payment on what they paid but never see the prevention of many events.

for many place i worked they try to limit the possibilities of unstable and unreliable factors.

they paid much on prevention, but many thai (oops) companies only see the cost.

and unhappy when i said you must make a prevention on this and that.

to make TOC for some companies you need to think around on what to lose and what to get.

i don’t know that why they didn’t see what they lose on the mis-operation.

so sad with them.

note

normal total operation cost calculate on

1. opportunity cost, cost that calculate on the chance what you lose when the operation cannot proceed by the possibility.

2. cost payment, all cost, what you paid.

the project should be proceed if opportunity cost x possibilities higher than the cost payment. and therefore normal ratio is opportunity/cost is about 10 times or more.

i write about we have to concern on which program that using.

Many can not change to other OS cause of the Programs that has to stick on Windows.

That is the most strong point of Windows;

Backward compatible; most of programs that run on Windows 3.1 still can run on Windows 98 and most of programs that can run on Windows 98 can run on Windows XP.

Somehow many of Programs that are using 16 bit subsystem may experience some problems with Windows XP.

In case that you still need to stick on XP and some program that is using 16 bit subsystem.

Try using DOS 7 in Windows XP. you can make boot disk b windows XP and run test program on DOS that come from XP.

and same money for buying seperate DOS program.

Now, the problems of Piracy is more and more serious.

The license cost, maintenance and all other make the TCO (total cost of operation) higher and higher.

So now I wil recomended some strategics for this.

1. still on Windows Based System;

This is the easiest way; but may not the best way to cut all the TOC;

1.1 firstly check which program you need, which may not.

1.1.1 Microsoft Windows XP itself; Home or Pro?

1.1.2 Microsoft Office; which version and which component you need?

1.1.3 Graphics tools

1.1.3.1 ACDsee

1.1.3.2 Photoshop

1.1.3.3 Illustrator

1.1.34 Winzip, Winrar and other

1.1.3.5 Power DVD

1.1.3.6 AutoCAD.

that’s all?

If not list all of the software you must use;

for the unnecessary one, eliminate them.

It’s the office use not the test system.

You need antivirus?

May be, or may be not, it’s dependable on what program you are using.

Remember; list all the program you need first. this is the first step of all.

Do you ever think about saving cost in office?

Pending some buying?

Yeach that’s right, pending some buying may be a good choice.

Only pending to better year.

But do you ever think about opportunity lose?

A day that some machine cannot be worked.

How much it cost?

time that you had to wait.

Other problems like time that office staff had to wait till the work by that machine had done.

…

May be I cannot criticize many, they may know better than me.

Just try look back what you gone far.

What you get and what you lose.

May be it’s better that way.
