disable autorun

this is the sequel to strenghten security of Windows XP : please read that blog before cont’d on this.

to disable the annoyances “autorun.inf” by two method.

1. the regedit way. (you can read about regedit here);

run regedit

click

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

click

SYSTEM

click

CurrentControlSet

click

Services

click

Cdrom

(next time i will use the syntax > for each click on regedit

so this all will be

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM >  CurrentControlSet  > Services >  Cdrom

Double click “Autorun” the value is set to 1 by default, change it to 0 (zero).
Click OK
Now restart, that’s it!

2. the tweakui method (you can read about tweakui and power toy here)

run tweakui

go to submenu

“my computer”

click

autoplay

click

Drives

( as breif my computer > autoplay > Drives)

remove tick on all drive

and

my computer > autoplay > Types

remove tick o both “Enable autoplay on”s
